There is a strong sense of the absurd in the works of Alain Trez. His characters and animals are struck numb on wood, sometimes funny, melancholic at others, dreamy and touching in a profusion of colors and materials. Cartoonist by trade,Trez has allowed black humor to transcend his work for many years in French and foreign magazines and news media. Humor is always present in his work, colorful and tender, liberating the onlooker for an instant from “this desperately serious world”.
Birds are his faithful companions: as mounts, friends or protestors, they provide Trez with the wings required to make us dream and escape from it all for a moment of happiness.
